Rocky Mountain Fall Foliage

September 22, 2006 - There has been snowfall in the Rocky Mountains of Colorado for the past 24-48 hours and it has created quite a contrast of white snow and fall foliage. This morning I drove west on Highway 82 from Twin Lakes, which leads to the Continental Divide at Independence Pass. I pulled over countless times to capture these beautiful fall foliage shots!

Photos: It's a scenic mountain drive for sure. :)

Orange Foliage

The creek in the top photo is Lake Creek, which flows into Twin Lakes Reservoir and eventually the Arkansas River.

The contrast of white and orange was so pretty.

Colorado Aspens Beautiful yellow aspens with snow-covered pines.
Fall Foliage Barn There is a barn on the south side of Highway 82 in this remote area. The lighting was not ideal for photography, but I did my best. Love those colorful leaves out there.
Colorado Fall Foliage Oh it was even prettier in person.
La Plata Trailhead Bridge I parked at the La Plata Trailhead and hiked to the bridge over Lake Creek.
