There has been snowfall in the Rocky Mountains of Colorado for the past 24-48 hours
and it has created quite a contrast of white snow and colorful foliage. This morning I drove west on
Highway 82 from Twin Lakes, which leads to the Continental Divide at Independence Pass.
I pulled over
countless times to capture these beautiful fall foliage shots!
Adjacent photos: Three photos with the highway included. |

Bright orange foliage!
The creek in the middle photo is Lake Creek, which begins near the Continental Divide
and flows downward into Twin Lakes before trickling into the Arkansas River.
The contrast of white and orange was so beautiful! :) |
 |
Beautiful yellow aspens amidst snow-covered pines.
Although the entire view was stunning, I decided to crop the
photo a bit to focus more on the yellow foliage. |

There is a privately owned barn along Highway 82
on the south side of this very rural area. The lighting was not perfect for this picture,
but it was nevertheless wonderful to see those bright orange aspens out there. |

I love so many of the photos I took from this adventure,
but this one for whatever reason ... puts me at a loss for words! |
 |
I parked at the La Plata Trailhead and walked to the
nearby bridge that crosses Lake Creek. |
 |
Two more shots that show Colorado's Rocky Mountains inside the canyon.
The bottom photo was taken not far from the Mt. Elbert Lodge. |

One photo of myself. Notice the
snowflakes on me ... It was snowing all morning! :) |
