September 27, 2011 - It was another afternoon of leaf peeping outside of Buena Vista, Colorado. This first picture was taken near my home - pretty and colorful cottonwoods on each side of the road. |

Eventually I made it back into the mountains - the Sawatch Range to be exact - where the autumn colors are really looking good.
My camera captured the essence of these orange aspen leaves quite well. |

I wandered in the Rainbow Lake Resort, a popular fall getaway and vacation spot approximately seven miles west of town.
The lighting wasn't great, but you can see all those yellow leaves beyond the lake. |

Then I hit pay dirt with these shimmer
yellow aspen leaves
on the side of the road. Wow!
