Fall Foliage Picture At Cottonwood Pass In Central Colorado
Fall Foliage Near Cottonwood Pass (Colorado)
Cloudy Day, Picture Of Road With Fall Colors On The Side
I have an interesting story about the weather on the day of this picture near Cottonwood Pass.
From the town of Buena Vista, I noticed large gray clouds over the
mountains that surround the canyon leading to Cottonwood Pass.
As I was driving west,
the weather became increasingly dreary and gray, but I still managed to get some
nice photos of the fall foliage. Pretty soon as I traveled, it began to
rain ... which became sleet ... which became snow near the summit! It
was surreal: Just a few miles down the road I was enjoying the wonders
of fall and there I was amidst a snowstorm!
This specific photo was taken while driving downhill (eastbound) on Chaffee County Road 306,
inside Cottonwood Canyon.
