Fall Foliage Photos (Near Nathrop, Colorado - October 12, 2007)
Today, on Friday afternoon, I found myself wandering about in my
car and again drove into the Chalk Creek Canyon area west of Nathrop.
I honestly was not planning to take pictures of the fall foliage, but
some of the striking colors compelled me to pull out the camera.
Adjacent is the view of Mt. Princeton from Chaffee
County Road 162, not far from Nathrop.
Into the canyon I traveled. Fall foliage buttresses the road.
I walked around the Mt. Princeton Campground (which is now closed for the season)
and snapped these two photos of a creek calm going through an area bursting with autumn colors.
Chalk Creek is the main creek that runs through the canyon. It starts
at places higher up near Tincup Pass and the historic
Alpine Tunnel
before eventually flowing into the Arkansas River in Nathrop.
The top photo is definitely my favorite!
Two photos of nearby Chalk Lake.
This view was much more striking to the naked eye. Still, it's a nice picture.
Most of the large aspen groves in the area are without leaves, except for this one particular spot I found! :)
